Why Do you need Medicare Supplement Insurance
- Medicare doesn't pay for all your hospital or medical expenses.
- Medicare requires that you pay deductibles and co-payments, and
it won't pay for amounts that exceed Medicare allowable charges.
- Supplemental insurance can help protect your assets in the event
of a prolonged illness or a severe injury.

What is a Medicare supplement (Medigap policy) ?
A Medicare supplement is a policy that is sold by various
insurance companies to cover some of the costs that Medicare does not pay.
Medicare covers medically related goods and services up to 80% of the costs
that they assign. So, if you are enrolled in an Original Medicare plan and
have a standardized Medicare supplement, Medicare will pick up its share
and your Medicare supplement will pay the balance or a specified amount
based on the Medicare supplement plan you have selected.
Seniors ( age 65+) have the option of 10 standardized Medigap
policies. These policies are standardized( meaning the benefits are the
same regardless of the company you select). i.e. a plan F has the same benefits
regardless if your plan is with BlueCross BlueShield or Mutual of Omaha.
This makes comparing plans much easier.
